BYOD (Bring Your Own Dog) is a membership community that connects dog lovers to their city’s best dog-friendly deals, events and recreational activities.
The BYOD Houston story began in 2014 when Michelle and her Shetland Sheepdog, Lily, were asked to leave a restaurant because the patio was no longer dog-friendly. Disappointed, Michelle went straight to Google in search of dog-friendly patios—but the results were pawful. As the search continued, she began to go mutts! Disappointed by Google’s lack of information, she created a blog and social media account that featured all things dog-friendly.
Eventually, thousands of local dog-lovers followed her dog-friendly adventures, leading to her appearance on Great Day Houston, TLC and the “Houston’s Pet Ambassador” nomination by the readers of PetTalk Magazine. The pawsitive feedback on her work and BYOD events have been much greater than she anticipated. This sparked her creativity and inspired the BYOD Houston mission: furwell digging for dog-friendly businesses that reward dogs and their responsible owners—BYOD is here!
